The new closed-loop
servo tensioner
The new Bi.P.0.0 servo tensioner is the result of a collaboration between Eternal Automation and LTR Winding Innovations.
This project stems from the desire to apply LTR’s advanced Italian technology and design to Eternal's technical expertise and execution capabilities.
The tensioner operates on a closed-loop system between the load cell value and the wire feed motor. This means that, once the required tension is set, the tensioner automatically adjusts and self-corrects in response to changes in tension, temperature and speed, ensuring consistent tension throughout the winding process.
Bi.P.0.0 meets the highest performance standards for the electrical winding market, specifically for copper and alloy fine and ultra-fine wires. It is also perfectly suited for use in the textile industry, managing the tension of materials such as nylon and aramid fibers.
The key innovation lies in the elimination of the need to change tensioners to accommodate different wire diameters. Instead, users can simply reposition a front pulley to easily and quickly switch from a 0.02 – 0.099 mm range to a 0.4 – 0.16 mm range.
The tensioner, designed to meet the various positioning needs on machines and automatic production lines, will be available in two versions: one with front-facing display and controls, and another with rear-facing display and controls.
Additionally, it can be directly controlled from the Eternal Automation winding machine control panel.
The tensioner’s data, including tension graphs, wire feed speed (up to a maximum of 26 m/s), and pull force (measured in tenths of a gram), can be viewed either on the device’s built-in 3.5” color display or directly on the winding machine’s control panel. The Bi.P.0.0 also allows the creation of a database that records out-of-range data, storing up to 400 lines per tensioner (exportable as a .txt file).
The tensioner can also be managed remotely via PC or mobile device.
